New York City plates

Catch every NYC parking ticket before the late fee hits.

PlateShield checks the city's ticket records for your plate every day. When a new parking or camera ticket shows up, you get a text and an email with the details and the deadline. You pay once, on time, and the penalties never start.

  • Checked daily against the city's own records
  • Text and email alerts with the ticket, the amount and the due date
  • Optional Concierge Pay: we pay the ticket for you, $9.95 per ticket paid, first one free

Your first lookup is free. No account needed.

One free lookup NYC parking and camera tickets

Does your plate have an open ticket in NYC?

Reads the public parking and camera violation records New York City publishes.

A ticket you don't know about gets more expensive on a schedule.

The paper blows off the windshield. The camera ticket goes to an old address. Either way, the city starts counting from the day the ticket was written, not the day you find it.

In New York City, a parking ticket picks up $10 after 30 days, $20 more after 60, and $30 more after 90. After that it goes to judgment with 9% interest, and a judgment can lead to a boot or a tow. Camera violations add $25 after 30 days.1

A $65 ticket caught in the first month costs $65. The same ticket found on day 91 costs $125. PlateShield exists for the gap between those two days.

How it works

Add a plate once. After that, nothing to open and nothing to remember.

Start with the free lookup
  1. Add your plate

Plate number and state. Add a second or third car for $2.99 a month each. Four or more plates get the Fleet rate.

  2. We check the city's records every day

Once a day, PlateShield reads New York City's public parking and camera violation records for each plate on your account and compares them with yesterday's.

  3. A new ticket means a text and an email

You get the violation, the amount and the due date. Pay it yourself, or turn on Concierge Pay and we pay it for you before the first penalty: $9.95 per ticket paid, and the first one is free.

Where it works

PlateShield reads the parking and camera violation records that New York City publishes. If a plate gets a ticket in the five boroughs, it's covered, whatever state the plate is from.

  • Live
    New York City

Parking tickets and bus-lane, red-light and speed camera violations. Any state's plate.

  • Next
More areas as their records open up

We add a city or county when it publishes ticket records we can check reliably. Tell us where you park and we'll let you know when yours is live.

Renting a car in New York?

Rental companies pay your tickets for you, then bill you the fine plus their own fee, often $25 to $50 per ticket. Rental Watch checks the city's records for your rental plate every day during the rental and for 30 days after you return the car. The moment a ticket shows up, you get an email with the summons number and the city's own page to pay it, before the rental company gets involved.

The Late-Fee Guarantee

If we miss alerting you and a late penalty hits, we'll credit your account for the penalty, capped at what we've earned from your account over the past 12 months, after our costs. Cancel any time. No contract, no cancellation fee.

Draft terms for Car. The credit covers the city's late penalty, not the ticket itself, and applies to NYC tickets on a plate we were watching when the ticket was written.

Questions people ask before they sign up

Where does the ticket data come from?

From the public parking and camera violation records New York City publishes. The free lookup reads the same records that monitoring does.

How often do you check?

Once a day for every plate on your account. The city adds new tickets to its records on its own schedule, so an alert can arrive a few days after the ticket was written. That still leaves most of the 30-day window before the first penalty.

Why is only one lookup free?

One lookup answers "is there a ticket on my plate right now?" Watching a plate every day, for as long as you own the car, is the paid part. Members get unlimited lookups along with daily monitoring.

Will you ever text me a payment link?

No. New York City warns about scam texts that claim you owe for a ticket and ask you to pay through a link. Our texts tell you a ticket showed up and point you to your email or your PlateShield account. Any payment link from us is in your email or inside the account you're signed in to. If a text asks you to pay by tapping a link, it isn't from us.

Is my plate covered?

Right now PlateShield covers tickets issued in New York City, whatever state the plate is registered in. If you park somewhere else, tell us where. We add areas as their records open up.

What does Concierge Pay do?

When it's on and you've added a payment method, PlateShield pays a new ticket for you before the first penalty and sends you the receipt. It costs $9.95 per ticket actually paid, nothing otherwise, and your first one is free. You can leave it off and just get alerts.

Do you need my DMV login or personal information?

No. Monitoring needs your plate number, the state, and where to send alerts: a mobile number and an email address.

Can I add my spouse's car or a company fleet?

Yes. Shield covers up to three plates: the first is included and each extra one is $2.99 a month, all on one bill. Four or more plates get the Fleet rate, $4.50 a plate a month or $3.99 a plate on an annual plan, with one monthly invoice.

What if I rent or share cars?

Rental Watch is $2.50 per rental. Add the rental's plate for the days you have it and we keep watching for 30 days after you return it, since rental tickets tend to show up late. Monitoring follows the plate, so it never follows you to the next car.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from your account. No contract, no cancellation fee.
